This 3 day safari between Pretoria and Durban departs during the summer months. The train departs in the morning from Rovos Rail’s Station in Pretoria and slowly meanders towards Elandslaagte, near Ladysmith.

Enjoy an early morning game-drive in Nambiti Private Game Reserve. Other activities on the second day of this Rovos Rail safari tour to Durban include a game-drive in the Spionkop Game Reserve or a visit to the battlefields in Spionkop, KwaZulu-Natal.

The train departs early morning and winds its way through the lush cane fields and rolling hills of KwaZulu Natal. You have the chance to visit the famous Ardmore Ceramics gallery before you arrive in Durban around 4pm, where this scenic safari ends.

Day 1: Pretoria to Elandslaagte, near Ladysmith, South Africa

The Pride of Africa departs Rovos Rail's Station in Capital Park at 10h00 in the morning. Enjoy lunch in the dining car. Dinner is served around 19h30 en route to Elandslaagte, near Ladysmith.

Day 2: Nambiti Private Game Reserve to Spionkop, South Africa

After an early wake up call around 17h00 you go on an early morning game drive in the Nambiti Private Game Reserve. Brunch is served around 11h00 in the dining car/s as you travel towards Estcourt. Upon arrival at 14h30 there is a choice of excursions. Option 1 – Game drive in Spionkop Game Reserve.

Option 2 – Spionkop battlefields escorted tour. In the evening you can enjoy a sundowner drink and a traditional braai (barbecue) at Spionkop Lodge, which is overlooking the dam.

Day 3: Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

Enjoy breakfast around 19h00 while the train descends the escarpment en route to Lions River station. Visit the famous Ardmore Ceramics gallery including a dressage display. Have some tea and enjoy views of the Lion river. At 12h00, the train departs for Pietermaritzburg. Around 4pm you arrive in Durban.
